Amplified Bible puts the Amplified translation on your phone. The Amplified is the version that opens up verses with extra words and bracketed shades of meaning.
You get offline access, audio, reading plans, quizzes, and a dictionary. You can make verse images, highlight, bookmark, and add notes, and you can share verses with friends. A Daily Verse greets you when you open the app.
The Amplified is an unusual translation, and you should know what you are getting. Instead of one clean rendering, it stacks alternate words and clarifications inside the verse. Some people find that opens up the meaning; others find it cluttered and hard to read straight through. It is worth trying a few chapters before you settle in.
This is a good fit for someone who likes to see the range of meaning packed into a verse, or who already prays with the Amplified and wants it handy with audio and notes.
Here is the part to be clear about. The Amplified is a Protestant translation, and it does not include the seven deuterocanonical books a Catholic Bible carries, so this is not a Catholic Bible. The developer, Axeraan Technologies, is a general app maker rather than a church publisher.
