Holy is a dating and friendship app for Christians. It was started by a married couple, Kathleen and Jonathan, and the whole point is meeting people who take Jesus seriously.
The app shows you a selection of Christians near you each day. If someone catches your eye, you wave at them. If they wave back, the app connects you and you can chat. Profiles go deeper than photos — people share their testimony, why Jesus matters to them, and where they are in their faith journey. You can use it to find friends as well as someone to date.
What struck me is how central the faith is. Most dating apps let you tick a "Christian" box and leave it at that. Here the first thing you read about a person is often their testimony. That changes the tone of the whole thing.
Good fit for single Catholics who are tired of explaining their faith on secular apps, or anyone who wants Christian friends in a new city. It has a large user base — tens of thousands of ratings on the App Store and a strong average — so you are not waving into an empty room.
It is interdenominational, not Catholic. Holy welcomes anyone who confesses Jesus as Lord, so you will meet Protestants, Evangelicals, and everything in between. If finding a specifically Catholic spouse matters to you, you will need to filter for that yourself, or look at a Catholic dating app instead. Some features, including parts of the dating side, sit behind the optional Supporter subscription.
