Our Review
Pray As You Go is a daily prayer session you listen to. Each one runs about ten to thirteen minutes and mixes music, a passage of Scripture, and a few questions to sit with. It comes from the Jesuits, and it is shaped by their Ignatian way of praying.
A new session goes up every day. It opens with a piece of music — often quite beautiful, sometimes chant, sometimes contemporary — then reads you the day's Scripture, usually twice, with some quiet and a couple of reflection questions in between. There is no account to make and no fee. You press play and pray.
This is one I keep coming back to. The Ignatian approach asks you to notice what stirs in you as you hear the Word, and the gentle pace makes room for that in a way a silent read often does not. The music does real work — it settles you before the Scripture arrives. On a morning when I cannot seem to gather myself to pray, pressing play is enough to start.
It is a good fit for a commute, a walk, a coffee break, or the first ten minutes of the day. People who struggle to pray in silence often find that having a voice and music to carry them is exactly what they needed. It works for beginners and for people who have prayed this way for years.
It is audio-led, so it suits listeners more than readers, and the reflective Ignatian style will not be everyone's preference — if you want vocal prayers, a Rosary, or set devotions, this is a different thing. The Scripture selections follow a broadly Christian daily pattern rather than always tracking the Catholic Mass readings exactly.
It is free, made by the Jesuits through Grupo de Comunicacion Loyola. You can find it on the App Store: Pray As You Go. If you want a faithful, well-made daily prayer you can simply listen to, this is among the best.
