The mechanics are familiar if you have used any modern dating app: profiles, swiping, matching. Ark slows things down on purpose. Swiping is limited to encourage intention rather than volume, you can comment on profiles for free, and you can see who has liked you without paying, which the big apps charge for. Profiles lean toward substance, and the community is made up of Christians from a range of denominations.
I think apps like this answer a real problem. Anyone serious about their faith who has tried the mainstream apps knows the conversation where you mention church and the other person goes quiet. Starting from shared belief saves everyone time and a fair amount of heartache.
Ark fits single Christians who want faith at the center of a relationship rather than as a pleasant surprise discovered on the third date. The free tier is generous enough to actually use, which matters, since dating apps that paywall every meaningful feature select for the wrong things.
