Each day pairs a brief reflection with a few Scripture verses. The app adds audio versions, so you can listen to the day's entry, and it keeps the whole year of readings at your fingertips. There are reminders too, so the habit does not slip.
The book has sold millions for a reason. The writing is gentle and steadying, the kind of thing that meets you on a hard morning. The app makes it easy to keep up daily, and the audio is done well.
It works for a quiet few minutes with your coffee, or a listen on the way to work. It is a good fit if you want something short and encouraging rather than a heavy study session.
A couple of honest things. Sarah Young writes the reflections in the first person, as if Jesus himself is speaking to the reader. Many people find that moving, but some Catholics find it presumptuous, and it is worth knowing before you start. The book also comes out of an evangelical Protestant tradition, published by HarperCollins Christian Publishing, not a Catholic source. It is a devotional, not Scripture and not Church teaching.
