New International Version is a free Bible reader built around the NIV translation, with a daily verse and a quiz feature added on.
It holds the full 66 books of the Old and New Testaments and stores them on your phone, so you can read with no connection once it is downloaded. You get quick navigation to any book, chapter, and verse, a verse of the day, the ability to share verses, and a feature for making simple Bible-verse images. There is also a quiz to test what you have read.
For plain reading it does the job. Having the whole Bible offline matters when you want to read on a plane or anywhere the signal drops. The verse of the day is a small, steady habit, and the quiz is a light way to check whether the reading is sticking.
Good for someone who wants a no-cost, no-internet NIV Bible on their phone for daily reading, and who likes a daily verse to start the morning.
What it is not: a Catholic Bible. The NIV is a Protestant translation and leaves out the seven deuterocanonical books — Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, and First and Second Maccabees — that belong in the Catholic canon. It is from an indie developer, not a Catholic publisher, so there are no Catholic notes or framing. If you specifically need a Catholic Bible, look to a Douay-Rheims or NABRE app instead.
