Formed is our pick for Christmas 2026, because it has something for every part of the season, from films for the kids to a video on the Epiphany house blessing. For prayer on the day itself, start with Hallow. Christmas falls on a Friday this year, and the season runs to the Baptism of the Lord on January 10, 2027.

That’s the part we forget. The decorations come down on the 26th in plenty of homes, but the Church is only getting started. There’s the Holy Family on December 27, Mary, Mother of God on January 1 and Epiphany on January 3, when many families bless the house and chalk the door: 20 + C + M + B + 27.

If you’re getting ready for Christmas now, start with our best Catholic Advent apps. This list picks up on Christmas Eve and carries you through the season.

Every app here was live on the App Store when we checked on November 4, 2026, and the cost sits under each name.

Formed app icon

1. Formed

Augustine Institute, Inc.
Free to download; subscription $9.99 or $99.99 on the App Store, or free through a member parish
★ 4.9 from 14,190 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 4.0/5

Our pick. Best for: the whole family, right through to Epiphany.

Formed is a Catholic streaming service, and it’s our pick. In past years its Christmas shelf has included videos for kids like The Christmas Pageant That Almost Wasn’t, and it has carried a short video by Kendra Tierney on the Epiphany house blessing.

Many parishes pay for a membership their families can use for free, so check with yours before you subscribe.

Hallow app icon

2. Hallow

Hallow, Inc.
Free to download; subscription $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year
★ 4.9 from 382,020 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 4.0/5

Best for: a guided prayer on Christmas Day.

Hallow’s Pray25 challenge runs through Christmas Day, so if you started it in Advent you finish at the manger. Most sessions are around 10 minutes, which fits even a busy Christmas morning. It needs a trial or a subscription, so if you came in on a trial, this is the time to decide whether to stay.

Great Catholic Music app icon

3. Great Catholic Music

Living Bread Radio Inc
Free
★ 4.3 from 46 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 4.4/5

Best for: faithful music in the house while you cook.

This free station from Living Bread Radio streams Catholic hymns and sacred songs all day, a mix of traditional and contemporary. Open it, leave it playing and get on with the turkey. You can’t pick songs and you need a signal, and the app hasn’t been updated since 2024. It’s still on the App Store, so it stays on the list.

Neumz Gregorian Chant app icon

4. Neumz

ODRATEK BV
Free radio mode; on-demand $7.99 a month or $80.99 a year
★ 4.5 from 51 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 3.8/5

Best for: chant lovers.

Neumz has Gregorian chant for every day of the liturgical year, sung by the Benedictine nuns of Jouques, with scores and Latin and English side by side. That means the chants of Midnight Mass are there on Christmas Eve. Radio mode is free, but choosing a chant takes a subscription, and the full year is one of the bigger costs on this list.

Divine Office app icon

5. Divine Office

Surgeworks, Inc.
Free
★ 4.9 from 8,438 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 4.4/5

Best for: keeping Christmas going after the 25th.

The world packs up on Boxing Day, but the Church keeps Christmas for two more weeks, and the Liturgy of the Hours carries you through it. Divine Office loads each day’s prayers on their own, with audio to pray along with. It’s free.

Word Among Us app icon

6. Word Among Us Mass Edition

The Word Among Us, Inc.
Free to download; subscription $1.99 a month or $22.99 a year
★ 4.9 from 12,344 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 3.8/5

Best for: the daily readings of the season.

You get each day’s Mass readings with a short meditation, and you can listen to both. It has no ads, and there’s a free trial before the subscription starts.

Liturgical Catholic Calendar app icon

7. Liturgical: Catholic Calendar

Joseph Kokenge
Free; optional lifetime upgrade $24.99
★ 4.8 from 1,288 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 4.6/5

Best for: not missing a feast.

The season moves quickly: Holy Family on December 27, Mary, Mother of God on January 1, Epiphany on January 3 and the Baptism of the Lord on January 10. This calendar puts each one on your lock screen, with alerts so a solemnity doesn’t slip by. Readings are US only, so Canadian readers get the feast and colour without them.

How we chose

We started from apps we’ve reviewed, then checked each one on the App Store for its price, rating and last update. Very few apps are made just for Christmas, so these are the ones that serve the season best. How we score apps explains the CatholicApps.com Score. Earlier in the season, see our best Catholic Advent apps.

If your family has a Christmas app we missed, tell us in the comments and we’ll take a look.
