The best Catholic apps for Christ the King and the last week of the Church year: Universalis, Laudate, Divine Office and two more, with costs and CatholicApps.com Scores.

Universalis is our pick for the last week of the Church year, because it holds the Hours and the Mass readings in one place and the text is a single purchase. If you want something free, Laudate covers nearly the same ground. Christ the King falls on Sunday, November 22, 2026, and Advent starts a week later.

That last week is easy to miss. The Sunday Gospel is the sheep and the goats from Matthew 25, and the weekday readings finish the Book of Revelation. A few minutes a day with those texts is a good way to reach Advent ready.

Every app here was live on the App Store when we checked on November 4, 2026, and the cost sits under each name. This short list sticks to apps that follow the Church’s daily prayer and readings.

1. Universalis

Universalis Publishing Limited
$9.99 once; optional audio subscription
★ 4.9 from 9,746 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 4.6/5

Our pick. Best for: praying the Hours and following the Mass in one place.

Universalis gives you every hour of the Divine Office and the daily Mass readings, and it works offline, so it’s there in a quiet church with no signal. There’s a lot in the menus, so give it a few days.

For the feast itself, start with Evening Prayer on Saturday, November 21.

Laudate app icon

2. Laudate

Andrzej Krawczyk
Free
★ 4.0 from 3,793 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 4.4/5

Best for: one free app that covers nearly everything.

Laudate puts the daily readings, the Liturgy of the Hours, two Bibles, the Catechism and hundreds of prayers in one free app, with no ads and no in-app purchases. There’s a lot to scroll through, and it takes a little time to find your way around. For a free app that holds this much, we can live with that.

Divine Office app icon

3. Divine Office

Surgeworks, Inc.
Free
★ 4.9 from 8,438 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 4.4/5

Best for: praying along with audio.

If you’ve never prayed the Hours, the audio makes it far less intimidating. Each day’s prayers load on their own, and you follow along with the recording. Try Night Prayer for the last week of the year. It’s short and a good place to start.

Catholic Daily Mass Reading app icon

4. Catholic Daily Mass Reading

EthicCoders Technologies
Free with ads; remove ads $12.99
★ 4.6 from 496 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 4.4/5

Best for: just the readings.

This app gives you the First Reading, Psalm and Gospel from the USCCB, for any date. It adds audio and short video reflections, but no Hours. It follows the US calendar, so Canadian readers may see the odd difference.

Liturgical Catholic Calendar app icon

5. Liturgical: Catholic Calendar

Joseph Kokenge
Free; optional lifetime upgrade $24.99
★ 4.8 from 1,288 ratings (Nov 2026)

CatholicApps.com Score 4.6/5

Best for: seeing the feast coming.

This one sits on your lock screen. It shows the day’s feast, liturgical colour and Mass readings, with alerts so a solemnity doesn’t slip by. There’s no Liturgy of the Hours, so pair it with one of the others. Readings are US only, so Canadian readers get the feast and colour without them. On November 29 the colour turns to violet, and you’ll see Advent arrive on your phone.

How we chose

We started from apps we’ve reviewed, then checked each one on the App Store for its price, rating and last update. We left out one readings app that hasn’t been updated since 2022. How we score apps explains the CatholicApps.com Score. When the Church year turns, our best Catholic Advent apps pick up where this list ends.

If we missed an app you use for these last days of the year, tell us in the comments and we’ll take a look.
