Best Catholic Advent Apps for 2026

Advent goes fast. Four weeks of shopping, school concerts, and work parties, and suddenly it’s Christmas Eve and you never really prepared. A good app won’t fix that on its own, but it puts a few quiet minutes of prayer where your hand already goes fifty times a day.

These are the Catholic Advent apps we’d actually put on our own phones this year. Every one is live on the App Store, free to download, and checked in September 2026. Where an app needs a subscription for the good stuff, we say so.

Hallow, Inc. · Free on the App Store · ★ 4.9 from 377,157 ratings (Sept 2026)

Hallow runs a seasonal Advent prayer challenge every year, and it’s the easiest way we know to pray every day of the season without having to plan anything. Open it, press play, and someone walks you through the day’s Gospel, a reflection, and a few minutes of silence. It’s also great for the car or for the kids at bedtime.

Most of the library needs Hallow Premium, but the seasonal challenges usually come with a free trial long enough to cover Advent.

If you’ve ever used the little print Magnificat, this is the same thing on your phone: morning, evening, and night prayer, the full text of each day’s Mass, and a short meditation on the Gospel. It’s the most “Church” way to walk through Advent on this list. You’ll need a subscription to read past the sample days.

Ascension is the app behind the Bible and Catechism reading plans so many parishes have gone through. For Advent it’s a great way to finally read the Scriptures that lead up to Christmas with good commentary beside you, and you can pray the Rosary with Fr. Mike Schmitz and friends. The core app is free.

Advent is a beautiful season to start praying the Liturgy of the Hours, and Divine Office makes it simple. It sets up the right psalms and readings for each day, and you can pray along with audio if you’re new to it. The O Antiphons in the last week before Christmas alone are worth it.

Formed is the Catholic streaming service most parishes give their families for free, so check with yours before you subscribe. There’s a whole shelf of Advent content: short reflections, films for family movie night, and kids’ programs. It’s the one on this list the whole house can use together.

This one isn’t a prayer app, but it’s a lovely Advent habit for families. Every kind act you do adds an ornament to a virtual tree, and you can invite grandparents or cousins to help decorate from anywhere. There’s a printable version too, for kids who like paper better than screens.
