4.4/5The short version
Today's Mass readings, plus prayers, reflections and links to Masses you can watch online, in a free app that opens straight to the day. More than a bare readings app, less than a full missal, and trusted by over 11,000 reviewers.

The Mass readings are the Church's daily menu of Scripture, chosen so that over the years we hear the whole sweep of the Bible. Reading them before Mass helps you listen better, and praying with them on days you can't go keeps you connected to the rest of the Church.
What's inside
Catholic Daily Readings brings together the day's Mass readings from the Roman Catholic lectionary, the Gospel, prayers and reflections, along with links to Masses you can watch online. It opens straight to today, the readings are easy to read, and you can move to other days of the week to read ahead. The links to online Masses are a welcome extra for anyone who is homebound, travelling or ill.
It sits in a useful middle ground. It offers more than the bare readings, with reflections to help you apply them, but it doesn't try to be a full missal or a complete prayer book.
How it holds up
The app is free, with no in-app purchases listed, and it is actively maintained, with an update in September 2026. With more than eleven thousand ratings averaging 4.8, it is one of the most widely used readings apps around, and that popularity suggests it is reliable day to day. At about 130 MB it is larger than the simplest readings apps, though that won't matter on most phones.
If you want the Order of Mass, the Liturgy of the Hours or a large library of devotions, you'll need another app alongside it. That isn't a flaw so much as a reflection of what it sets out to do.
Catholic Daily Readings suits anyone who wants a quick daily time with Scripture, parishioners who like to read ahead before Sunday, and those who can't always get to Mass and want to watch one online. It is a dependable, free daily companion, and a sensible first readings app to try.
