Catholic Holy Bible with Audio

Catholic Holy Bible with Audio is a free offline Bible app that lets you read the text and listen to an audio reading of every chapter. The audio is the draw — many Catholic Bible apps are silent.

The app includes the full Catholic canon, audio playback by chapter, reading plans, a small Bible dictionary, daily verse notifications, and the usual modern conveniences: highlights, bookmarks, notes, verse-image sharing. Quizzes are included if you want a quick check on what you just read. It all works offline once installed.

The audio is the feature I keep coming back to. There are days when the eyes are tired and the only way I will get through a passage is to hear it. Having the readings spoken aloud while you fold laundry, drive, or sit in a waiting room turns dead time into something useful. The narration is not theatrical — it is plain and steady, which is what you want.

Good for commuters, anyone with vision trouble, and parents who want a chapter of Scripture on while breakfast is being made. Also good for someone learning the Catholic canon and wanting to hear the deuterocanonical books they may never have read.

The developer is Axeraan Technologies, not a Catholic publisher, so do not expect Catholic teaching notes, lectionary tie-ins, or commentary. The translation used is a public-domain Catholic Bible, which means the English is older. The interface has the usual free-app sprinkles of nudges to rate the app and the like.

Free, by Axeraan Technologies. Available on the App Store: Catholic Holy Bible with Audio. A practical audio Bible to keep on the phone when you want Scripture in your ears.
