Catholic Saints Audio Library

The saints are the Church's family album. Their stories show what holiness looks like in real lives, with real struggles, and children in particular remember a good story long after they have forgotten a lesson. Hearing those stories told well is one of the easiest ways to make friends with the saints.

What's in the library

Catholic Saints Audio Library is a collection of nearly two hundred stories of the saints. Some are told as straightforward narratives, some as dramatisations and some as series that unfold over several parts. It is lovely to listen to in the car, before bed, or with children who would rather hear a story than read one. One recording stands out: a talk that includes the actual voice of St. Padre Pio. For many people, that alone makes the app worth downloading.

The app comes from As Written Productions, the same publisher behind the Fulton Sheen and Audio Catholic Kids libraries, and it works the same way.

Cost and caveats

You can sample stories for free, and a one-time purchase of $3.99 opens the full library. There is no subscription, which keeps things simple. The app hasn't been updated since June 2023, though, so it may feel dated, and it has only six ratings on the App Store, averaging 3.5, which gives little to go on. Since the free version is only a sample, plan on the upgrade if you want to hear the full collection.

The store listing doesn't give much detail about how the stories are organized or who narrates them, so the free samples are the best way to judge whether the style suits your family.

This library suits families who love the saints, parents looking for faithful listening on long drives, and adults who want to get to know the saints better during a commute. It is an easy way to fill quiet moments with the lives of holy men and women. Try the samples, and if your household enjoys them, the full library is a small price for a large shelf of stories.
