3.6/5The short version
Every one of Bishop Robert Barron's video series, from CATHOLICISM to Pivotal Players, streams in this app for subscribers. Outstanding teaching, but at $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year it's a serious commitment, so be sure you'll watch.

Some Catholics come to faith through a book, others through a friend, and a great many in recent years through a video by Bishop Robert Barron. His work explains the beauty and reasonableness of the Catholic faith with a clarity that speaks to believers and seekers alike. For anyone who wants to go deeper, his longer programs are a real school of the faith.
What subscribers get
Word on Fire Digital is the streaming home for Bishop Barron's video series. A subscription gives you access to all of his programs, on any device and at any time. That includes the CATHOLICISM series and Pivotal Players, which travel around the world to explore the goodness, truth and beauty of the faith and have aired on public television. It also includes more focused programs, such as The Mystery of God, which takes on the arguments of the New Atheists, and David the King, a study of 1 and 2 Samuel.
Subscribers are also first to see new releases and additional content added through the year.
The cost question
The app is free to download, but the video library requires a subscription: $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year. That is a significant expense, so it makes sense to be honest with yourself about how much you will watch. The store mentions a free trial, which is a good way to find out. The app is actively maintained, with an update in September 2026, and a 4.9 rating from more than two thousand ratings suggests subscribers are happy.
A parish or study group sharing the content might get more value from the yearly plan than an individual would.
Word on Fire Digital suits people who already love Bishop Barron's teaching, adult faith formation groups, and serious learners who want a structured, beautifully produced education in Catholicism. The content is excellent. Just weigh the price before committing.
