Catholic Saints Calendar

Catholic Saints Calendar is a saints-of-the-day app that follows the Roman Catholic calendar. Open it any day of the year and you get the saint or saints for that date, with a short biography.

The app gives you a calendar view, a daily card with the saint's name, feast level (memorial, optional memorial, feast, solemnity), and a short writeup of the saint's life. You can scroll forward to upcoming feasts, search by name, and bookmark favorites. The calendar handles the moveable feasts (Easter and what depends on it) correctly. It works offline once content is downloaded. There is a widget option for the home screen.

What you appreciate after using this for a stretch is how much it fills in gaps in a typical Catholic's saint knowledge. The big ones — Francis, Therese, Augustine, Maximilian Kolbe — show up on the days you expect. But it is the lesser-known saints, the ones whose feast lands quietly on a Tuesday, that become small encounters. A short paragraph on a saint you have never heard of can shape a whole day's prayer.

This is good for Catholic adults who want to know whose feast it is today, for catechists planning lessons, for parents who want to pick patron saints for their kids, and for anyone preparing for confirmation or RCIA. It also works well as a small daily nudge toward Catholic intellectual life.

What it is not: this is not the Roman Martyrology in full, and the biographies are short — not scholarly. There is no audio. The interface is functional rather than polished. The developer (Martin Vcelak) is an independent developer, not a major Catholic publisher, so do not expect EWTN-level production. Some lesser feasts may be missing.
