Catholic Good News Bible GNT

Catholic Good News Bible GNT is a Bible app built on the Good News Translation, the plain-English version that has been in print since 1976. This is the Catholic edition of that translation.

The app gives you the Good News text to read and search, in the everyday English the GNT is known for. The Catholic edition matters here, because it includes the seven deuterocanonical books that belong in a Catholic Bible. You can move through the books, look up passages, and read at whatever pace suits you.

What I appreciate is the readability. The Good News Translation was made to be clear for ordinary readers, and that makes it easy to hand to someone who finds older translations heavy going. Having the full Catholic canon in that simple English is genuinely useful.

It is a good fit for new readers, for teenagers, for RCIA folks who want a gentle translation, and for anyone who wants a Catholic Bible that reads plainly. It also works well as a second Bible alongside a more formal translation.

It is worth knowing the app comes from an independent developer rather than an established Catholic publisher, so it is a straightforward reading app without study notes, commentary, or a liturgical calendar. The translation itself is Catholic and complete, but the surrounding features are basic.

It is free. You can find it on the App Store: Catholic Good News Bible GNT. A clear, complete Catholic Bible in plain English, good for reading rather than deep study.
