Chaplets and Rosary aims to be a simple, attractive home for a set of well-loved Catholic devotions. For the Rosary, you can pray the usual five decades, or the longer 15 and 20 decade forms. There are four chaplets: the Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Chaplet of St. Michael, the Chaplet for the Dead and the Chaplet of the Infant Jesus of Prague. Two novenas are included, the Divine Mercy Novena and the Novena to the Holy Spirit. Rounding it out are the Angelus, the Divine Praises, the Prayer for Spiritual Communion and the Litany of Loreto.

That is a well-chosen list. It covers the main devotions many Catholics pray through the year, and a few, like the Chaplet for the Dead, are harder to find in other apps.

Things to weigh

The app is free, with no in-app purchases listed. The main caveat is that it hasn't been updated since September 2020. Older apps can look dated and may eventually stop working with new versions of iOS, so it's worth keeping that in mind. It holds a 4.2 rating from 34 ratings, which is respectable but a small sample.

Beyond its chaplets, the collection is modest. You won't find daily readings, the Liturgy of the Hours or a large prayer library, so it works best as one tool among several rather than your only prayer app.

Chaplets and Rosary suits Catholics who love chaplets and want several in one place, especially the less common ones. It is a good free download for praying the Chaplet of St. Michael or the Infant of Prague. Just go in knowing it is no longer actively maintained.
