Crampon NAB Audio Holy Bible

Crampon NAB Audio Holy Bible is a free Catholic Bible app that gives you the text in both French and English, with audio. The French is the Crampon 1923 translation, a long-respected Catholic version, and you can listen to the readings as well as read them.

The app is simple by design. You get the Bible offline, an audio reading you can play and pause, and a search box for finding a passage. There is not much more to it than that. You open it, pick where you want to read, and either read along or listen.

What I appreciate is how plain it is. There are no menus to wrestle with and no setup before you can start. For someone who wants Scripture read aloud during a commute or while doing chores, the audio is the real draw, and it keeps working offline once the app is on your phone.

It is a fit for French speakers who want a Catholic Bible they can hear, for anyone moving back and forth between French and English, and for people who simply take in Scripture better by listening than by reading. Good for a passage in the car or a chapter before bed.

A few honest notes. The full Catholic canon is here, which is what you want, but this is the work of an independent developer rather than a Catholic publisher, so do not expect study notes, commentary, or a polished design. The app is built around the French Crampon text first, with English alongside.

Free, from the developer listed as Hong Chen. Available on the App Store: Crampon NAB Audio Holy Bible. A no-frills way to read or hear the Catholic Bible in French and English.
