eScrivaLite

eScrivaLite is a free Catholic app for praying with the daily Gospel. It gives you the Gospel reading from the Catholic Mass each day, paired with short meditations drawn from the writings of Saint Josemaria Escriva to help you sit with the passage.

Each day you get the day's Gospel and a meditation that connects it to ordinary life. The focus, following Saint Josemaria, is on the call of everyday people to holiness, finding God in daily work and the small duties of the day. More than 80,000 people use it, and the reviews tend to mention reading it first thing in the morning or before Mass.

What I appreciate is that it keeps things short and steady. A daily Gospel and a few lines to chew on is easy to actually do, which matters more than a long program you abandon after a week. Reading it before Mass is a good way to walk in already turned toward the readings.

It is a fit for anyone who wants a simple daily meditation rooted in the Mass readings, for working people who only have a few minutes, and for those drawn to the spirituality of Saint Josemaria and the universal call to holiness. Good for a morning habit or a quiet moment in the day.

A few notes. The meditations come from one particular school of Catholic spirituality, the one associated with Saint Josemaria Escriva and Opus Dei, so the tone reflects that. This is a lite version, so some content sits behind the fuller paid app. It is a daily devotional, not a full Bible or study resource.
