Magnificat (Edition française)

Magnificat (Edition française) is the French-language version of the Magnificat prayer companion. It is the same monthly booklet many parishes hand out, now on your phone.

Each day it gives you morning and evening prayer, the Mass texts, a short meditation, the life of a saint, and Compline to close the day. There are also monthly articles and some music selections. Everything is in French.

The strength here is that it follows the actual liturgical day. You open it in the morning and you are praying the same texts as the Church, not a generic verse of the day. For anyone trying to build a habit of morning and evening prayer, having it all in one place removes the excuse.

Good for French speakers, and good for someone learning French who already knows the prayers in English and wants to follow along. Good for daily Mass-goers who want the readings ready, and good for travel when you do not have the printed booklet with you.

It is not free past the first month. You get a free first month, and after that it is a subscription, about €14.90 a year through iTunes, or included if you already subscribe to the print edition. It is also French only, so the English edition is a separate app.

Free to download with a one-month trial, then paid, made by Magnificat, the same publisher as the booklet. You can get it on the App Store: Magnificat (Edition française). If you already pray with Magnificat in print, the app is an easy companion to carry.
