Mission Rosary

The saints never tire of recommending the Rosary. Again and again, they point to it as a way of staying close to Mary and, through her, to her Son. The hard part for most of us isn't believing that, but praying it faithfully day after day.

What it does

Mission Rosary is built around that conviction. It guides you through the Rosary and encourages you to make it a daily habit. The app was started by people inspired by the stories of the saints, and that devotion shows in its sincere, straightforward approach. It doesn't try to be a full prayer book. Its focus is helping you pray the Rosary, and keep praying it.

For someone who has tried and failed to build the habit before, that single focus can be a strength. There is less to explore and more reason to simply begin.

The honest picture

The app is free to download, but the store lists a $3.99 monthly subscription. The listing doesn't spell out exactly what the subscription adds, so try the free experience first and decide whether it is worth an ongoing cost. Many good Rosary apps are free, so a monthly charge is a real consideration.

It also hasn't been updated since January 2022, which raises questions about how well it will keep working on newer phones. With only eight ratings on the App Store, averaging 4.5, there is little user feedback to go on, though what there is is positive.

Mission Rosary suits Catholics looking for a companion to help them pray the Rosary every day, especially those who are moved by the example of the saints. It is a sincere app with its heart in the right place. Give the free version a try, and if it helps you pray the Rosary more faithfully, weigh the subscription against the many free alternatives before you commit.
