The Holy Rosary

The Holy Rosary is a straightforward guide for praying the Rosary. Open it and it picks the right mystery for the day on its own.

It carries all the mysteries, the litanies, the standard prayers, and the steps you need to pray a full Rosary. You can also build your own prayer book inside the app, adding and editing the prayers you use most. It was put together with help from volunteers who translated it into Italian, Portuguese, and English.

The automatic mystery of the day is a small thing that matters. It is easy to lose track of whether it is a Joyful or a Sorrowful day, and having the app sort that out removes one excuse not to pray. The custom prayer book is a nice extra if you have a few prayers you always tack on at the end.

It is good for someone learning the Rosary who needs the structure laid out, for keeping the prayers in one place, and for praying in Italian or Portuguese as well as English.

It is plain and a bit old in its design, and there is no audio to pray along with, so you are reading and praying yourself. That suits some people fine and frustrates others. The ratings are middling, mostly about the dated look.

It is free, from developer VLR Software. On the App Store here: The Holy Rosary. A simple, no-cost Rosary guide that does the basics well.
