The short version

Laudate puts the daily readings, the Liturgy of the Hours, two Bibles, the Catechism and hundreds of prayers into one free app, with no ads and no data collected. It isn't pretty, but if you keep only one Catholic app on your phone, this is a strong choice.

We first reviewed Laudate back in 2012, and it's still the app we'd hand to almost any Catholic who asks where to start. It's free, it has no ads, and it holds more Catholic content than nearly any other app we've reviewed: the daily Mass readings, the Liturgy of the Hours, two Bibles, the Catechism and a huge library of prayers in English and Latin. Its users agree. On Google Play it has more than a million installs and a 4.7-star rating from over 31,000 reviews.

What's inside

Laudate opens to a long menu rather than a polished home screen, but everything is there once you start looking. The daily readings come with the saint of the day and a short reflection. You'll also find the Liturgy of the Hours in English and Latin, the Order of Mass, the Latin Mass, the New American Bible and the Douay-Rheims Bible, which you can read offline.

Prayer is where Laudate really shines. There's an interactive Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy, along with the Seven Sorrows Rosary, the Franciscan Crown, the Chaplet of St. Michael and many more, plus several versions of the Stations of the Cross. (If the Rosary is your main reason for downloading, see our best Rosary apps.) The prayers are sorted into sensible groups like the Marian and Mass prayers, the Latin prayers come with English translations, and you can keep your favourites in your own My Prayers folder.

Keep scrolling and there's more: the Catechism of the Catholic Church with bookmarks, five guides to Confession written for different groups, the documents of the Second Vatican Council, the Code of Canon Law, daily podcasts and a live stream of daily Mass. The app is available in nearly 20 languages, from Spanish and Polish to Vietnamese and Chinese, which makes it a good fit for multilingual families and parishes.

Where it shows its age

All that content comes at a price in design. Laudate looks much as it has for years, the menus are crowded until you learn your way around, and some sections display web content inside the app, which is harder to read and needs a connection. If you want an app that gently guides you into prayer with audio and beautiful screens, Hallow will feel friendlier.

Ratings reflect that a little. Android users give it 4.7 stars, and iPhone users rate it 4.8 in the UK and 4.3 in Canada, while the US App Store sits lower at 4.0 from about 3,700 ratings.

Free, and private too

Laudate is made by Aycka Soft, a small independent developer, and it has been kept up to date for well over a decade. The latest update arrived in September 2026. There are no ads and no in-app purchases, and the App Store privacy label says the developer collects no data from the app. For an app this size, that's rare, and it's one more reason we're happy to recommend it to families.

Our verdict

Laudate isn't the prettiest Catholic app, but nothing else puts the readings, the Hours, the Bible, the Catechism and hundreds of prayers into one free download. If you keep only one Catholic app on your phone, this is a strong choice. And even if you love a newer app for daily prayer, Laudate is worth keeping for everything else.

What we like

  • Free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no data collected
  • Daily Mass readings, Liturgy of the Hours, Bible and Catechism in one app
  • Huge prayer library in English and Latin, with chaplets and Stations of the Cross
  • Douay-Rheims Bible works offline
  • Available in nearly 20 languages
  • Kept up to date since 2012

What could be better

  • Dated design and long, crowded menus
  • Some sections show web content and need a connection
  • Rated lower on the US App Store than on Google Play

Is it faithful?

Laudate uses approved texts, including the New American Bible, the Douay-Rheims Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Some daily reflections come from outside sources, so read them as you would any commentary.

Good evening, I haven’t been able to listen to the rosary for the last couple for days. Is there a problem with it at the moment?

I really love the Laudate App and use it every day. Thank you for making this available. I saw that today’s saint (7/4) is “Blessed” Pier Giorgio Frassati. He has been canonized as of last year. I know that this is probably an oversight but wanted to bring it to your attention.
    Thank you and Gid bless!

Why all of sudden when I attempt to get the daily reading, am I getting the response “too many requests”?

It’s Sunday/May 3, 2026 and the Daily Readings link is not working. An Error message is displayed.

    Hi,
I believe you have changed the App. I can’t see the ‘pray-as-you-go’ anymore. Will that be available again? I have really enjoyed that and love this App. This App will not be the same anymore without it. Please put it back in.
    Regards,
    Irlanda

I am trying to find out how when I am reading the Bible laudate app and say I’m reading Matthew chapter 2 and I have to leave and when I get back home I want to be able to open it back up and it automatically be at chapter 3 because that’s where I left off. I’m told it saves your place for where you were reading but I cannot get that to happen I need help.

I can’t find the New Testament

On the main screen of options, It is right near the bottom “New American RE Bible” You can find the New Testament is available there However the interface isn’t the greatest for bible reading. You would be better to download a dedicated bible app.

Have this app on my phone and love it but wish I could get it on my desk top. It would be easier to read.

Only recently when I open the app on my phone in the portrait profile I have a blue band on the side of the right side of the screen which obscures most of the readings. How do I remove it?

    • Cary Molyneux November 6, 2023 at 12:52 pm - Reply

That seems strange. Can you fully quit the app, and perhaps check for an update and then open it again. I haven’t encountered something like this.

10/27/23 Under Bible Verse tab, Signs of Times today:
    #3. Denial of climate change.

Outside of historical variations, “climate change” is government propaganda as a tool to line the pockets of already wealthy elite. I am very disappointed to see this in the Laudate app today.

There is a quote included today in a reflection by RegnumChristi, that is often attributed to Mother Theresa but , while beautiful, was not actually written by her.

I used to forward the daily readings to friends and family… but that broke on July 2nd. Are you addressing this problem?

How can I access the previous day reading reflections! There is so much treasure in these reflections! I would love to go back, reread and share. Thank you.

Obviously non-Catholic “Catholics” have Infiltrated the Laudate App.
Let’s do as Jesus taught and pray for them. Fast and pray. Also pray for a conversion of our secular catholic as well as our Catholic leader.
May Jesus have Mercy on their souls when they meet face to face.

This is a Catholic app . I used to respect and encourage people to use it. Lately with all the Left leaning political mentions in place of strong Catholic teaching you are destroying your name and reputation , leading people astray and even going so far as to commit blasphemy by including Kamala Harris in the same group and level as the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Saints. Ms Harris hates Catholics and is for homosexual people marrying and for BLM riots with murder and burning of cities. !!! Who do you have writing and editing this output? I am canceling you and will spread the word to others to cancel you . You are a disgrace. God sees this and you will not prosper by worshiping idols of the world.
