Our Review
Saint of the Day Stories is a small daily-saint app aimed at families. Each day of the year has one saint, written up at a length and reading level a child can follow.
You open the app and get the saint for today — name, image, a paragraph or two of biography written for kids. You can swipe to other days, mark favourites, share the entry by email, or set a reminder so the day's saint pops up on your phone in the morning. The stories aren't long. Each one is meant to be read out loud at breakfast or in the car without losing anyone's attention.
What I appreciate is the restraint. Saint biographies for kids often pile on miracles and gore, or sand them down so far the saint becomes generic. These sit somewhere in the middle — short, faithful to the real story, and at a reading level a six-year-old can mostly follow with a parent helping on the harder words.
Useful for parents trying to add a little something to the morning, for grandparents who see grandkids on weekends, or for catechists looking for a quick lead-in to a class. Older readers might use it as a starting point and then dig into a longer source like Butler's Lives.
It is what it says — short stories. Don't come looking for novenas, prayers, or deep theology. Some entries are also written in slightly older language, and a few saints in the lineup are less familiar to modern readers, which can be a feature or a frustration depending on what you're after.
$1.99, by Cary Molyneux. Available on the App Store: Saint of the Day Stories. A simple, family-friendly way to introduce kids to one saint a day without committing to a whole reading program.
